言行一致

Today my Japanese friend told me 言行一致 cannot be translated into English. I later searched, a translation would be: behavior (should be) consonant with one's words. Not sure we (Americans) care about the consonance. He said the word came from neo-Confucianism [陽明学]. Words [言] in this context refer to what you think.

多分アメリカでは、自分の周囲の環境にベストな行動をすべきで何を考えているかはまた別の問題な気がする
